lift heavy

workout for 8/26:

Deadlift
10-1-20-1-30-1

Tabata: superman-banana.

I had this thought. And let me tell you, it was a glorious thing, trust me, I don't have many of them. It seems like humans are supposed to go in two speeds: all-out, or dead stop. When we rest and relax, we try to be as unproductive and slow as possible. When we work or train, we try to be as fast and productive as possible (as necessary to optimize the return), (ideally, but for some reason people get away with half-assing things now.)

thoughts?

  1. Well I think the all out workouts are fantastic but really, humans are multi-geared beings. It doesn't seem to me that 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gear is necessarily "halfassing it" so much as adjusting to it. Sometimes it may be appropriate and other times, well... maybe not. We do goof off too. At least I do.

  3. We see people at the gym moving their legs on a stationary bike, hardly sweating or breathing, reading the paper, etc. etc.--and they think they are getting a workout!
    BHIPers know better now.

If we have injuries we just have to change our workout to one that is just as hard but doesn't affect the injured part. And take rest days!

  4. Well put, Bridget. Like a good tranny, we optimize the power output appropriately according to demand. Nice. I like it.

Kim, We'll meet in the Wooden Center again.
