Too strong?

Has anyone ever been deemed "too strong"? Didn't think so.. So lets keep at it then..

I noticed a bump in followers this past week, which leads me to believe that there are some new bhipers following this blog. If you are a new bhiper, then please disregard these posts and do not think about doing your own supplementary workouts without consulting us first. If you are a veteran bhiper, then please leave the coaching to us. Let the new crew have the same experience you did.

Here's some more workouts for you all:

1.
4 rounds for time:
- 50 squats
- 400-Meters Sprint (substitute and scale accordingly. 1 mile on a bike, 500 row, etc.)

2.
50-40-30-20-10 For time
- Double-unders/jumping jacks
- Sit-ups

  2. I'm totally impressed with 135, Sarah!

I struggled to clean 85 (front squats were ok), but couldn't make it to 95.

  5. Aw! Thanks guys!!! =D It's all about that hip action. (I actually did some hip flexor stretch ala K.Starrett the night before, so that probably helped.)

    #1 workout
    Paul: 13:46
    Gustavo: 19:58
    Sarah: 21:18

Really felt yesterday's workout in my hamstrings about 40 squats in.

Good on you Kim for not giving up and going back to do the rest of the squats. ;) (Not to mention running twice as far.)

Oh, and btw everyone, I'm bringing bands with me every time I go to workout at Drake, so if you want to work on your pullups you're more than welcome to join me.

  7. WOD #1 16:59, doing 500 m row sprints. This one totally kicked my butt (in a good way, of course).

  8. Kim, it would have been 2 miles for you anyway. So well done.

Did ANYONE read the friggin' article? Anyone? I bet Margaret did.

  9. Yes I read it! I didn't have any comments, sorry.

  10. From Jolie...

Re: the article... it annoys me to no end when the word "eliminate" is used regarding any food, and the story loses credibility in my eyes. They're doing the same thing with carbs that was done with fat. Is the elimination of white rice just for the United States, or would it be true for those countries where white rice has been a staple for hundreds of years? Moderation is the key.

Workout#1 on Tuesday (4 rounds 50 squats 400 Meter sprints)
    17 minutes
Workout#2 today (modified to 50/40/30/20/10 jumping jacks followed by 100/80/60/40/20 single jumps in lieu of the double unders which I have yet to master)
    14 minutes

    Andrea: 8:18
    Mark: 8:58

Even better, Mary put us through some killer warm-up moves, and awesome stretches after.

Look forward to working out with you guys again!

Awesome to see you guys meeting up!

  13. @Russ Of course I read it!
@Jolie Actually there's a whole lot of cutting edge science behind that article. I didn't need to lose weight when I started BHIP, but I really leaned out only after I started the "paleo" approach to eating. It works for me. No more hunger pangs, blood sugar drowsiness, intestinal bloating, etc. To each his/her own, though!

  14. Rice has only NOW become a staple. It was always regarded as "peasant food", historically. And even then was sparcely consumed because of rationing. Now, thanks to agricultural advances, it is widely and readily available to all. The "rice-dependant" cultures in Asia are actually rapidly gaining weight. China is accelerating pretty quickly. But, go to any authentic chinese restarant and you will be served a huge bowl meat with a small rice bowl on the side. Meanwhile, Korean bibimbop bowls are mostly vegetables in korean and only in the US are they piled with rice.. food for thought
